Midways arcade hit gets a new lease on life on the Wii, thanks to EA

We all knew about it, but EA has officially announced NBA JAM for the Wii. This time, however, we also know a lot more about it. NBA Jam will revive the classic franchise with all the old school gameplay. The game won’t be entirely old with, all new features promised (albeit so far undisclosed). EA Sports says the game will be a one of a kind sports presentation on Wii.

“NBA JAM is one of the most recognizable franchises in videogame history,” said Peter Moore, President, EA SPORTS. “Diehard fans of the original game have been asking for a remake for more than a decade. We’re very excited to give them their wish this year with the return of this iconic franchise.”

The game’s over-the-top presentation will return for this new take on the game, with EA promising that NBA Jam ’re-defines the visuals for a sports game by bringing true-to-life body types, updated physics, and visible player emotion to the over- the – top experience."

EA Canada is working on this one and the game is due sometime this year; hopefully more of the game will be shown off soon.

The official site isn’t up yet but it will be here. The Facebook page is already there, though.
