Nintendos Senior Localization Manager explains how localization decisions are made, along with revealing that he is currently working on a project

In a recent interview with Destructoid, Bihldorff was asked about the localization process of Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story. He also revealed some information about how Nintendo decides which games to localize. "The games that become localization projects are basically business decisions made after much discussion between NCL and NOA," explained Bihldorff. "Those decisions are extremely complicated and involve the input of many departments of both companies — the particulars must remain secret to disorient the very vocal champions of various neglected franchises."

He also mentioned that he was currently working on a game, but couldn’t share what it was. "As far as what I’m working on now," he said, "that’s a secret too, but I’m pretty sure it’ll make you smile." Many Nintendo games could be said to "make you smile", though, so it isn’t that much of a clue.
