n-Space discusses potential plans for the 3DS and Wii U
For those of you who might not know, Nintendo is currently running an event called iDÉAME, which is an event where game designers come together to share their knowledge with aspiring game developers. Many of the developers (in fact, all of them) would be considered “indie” developers and many of them also bring their latest offerings for Nintendo’s digital services to the show. The most important thing to bring from all this is that many people come to just discuss their game and it’s designs, rather than promote them. It’s a cool little event that I can easily get behind.
But, I digress. Dan O’Leary, co-founder of Wii/DS developer n-Space attended the event and divulged some very interesting information to GameReactor.
The first thing that stands out is the 3DS itself and what n-Space wants to do with it. Although they’re currently working on Heroes of Ruin, the team considers themselves “experts at stylus controls” for first person shooters and that they would love to make a first person shooter for the system. This is easily one of the genres that the Nintendo 3DS is really missing so hopefully we’ll see something from them in the near future. Considering that the 3DS has been on the market for a full year and we’ve yet to see anything in the genre, now may be the best time.
Mr. O’Leary also spoke about something which is a little bit more interesting. Some of you may remember Winter for Nintendo Wii (see some footage below) which was a scrapped project for the Wii developed by n-Space. O’Leary stated that the game was cancelled because publishers said it wouldn’t fit on the Wii, and that with the Wii U coming out, that things could definitely change things a bit. He further goes on to spark speculation and mentions that Winter would be a title he would be interested in pursuing at some point, even hinting that things like Kickstarter could help it along if they decide to go that route.
How do you feel about the “Kickstarter Revolution”? Should publishers take risks themselves or should we help them out? Let us know in the comments below.
I’d never heard of Winter before this article, and judging by that video, I’d gladly donate to help Kickstart it on WiiU!
