Moving In: The First Hours of Animal Crossing: New Leaf

How you too can become a Mayor in just a few hours.

Earlier today I hopped onto a train bound for wherever. I didn’t have a house to go to or in fact any place to live but for some reason I was compelled to go. The town I ended up arriving in was the town of Atlantis, and no it wasn’t deep underwater.

On the train there, I met this curious cat, he said to me he had been riding the train for years but still found it exciting. We soon pulled up to the town where the I was greeted by the inhabitants, including the town hall secretary Isabelle. She told me I was to be the new mayor of the town. Not one to pass up a high paying cushy government job I accepted and soon planted a tree to commemorate this new position.

However with no place to live I soon had to seek the help of the local real estate agent. He seemed a bit out of his league, perhaps he should be running the local grocery store instead? I stuck with it though and picked an awesome plot of land by the beach. It was close to my new job at the town hall which was a bonus.

Soon after I went about exploring the village, talking to all the residents who seem to be very nice and welcoming. There’s a nice selection of stores as well across the rail road tracks including a little store owned by the real estate agents brother. He seemed to be really polite too. Unfortunately it didn’t take long for me to get a mosquito bite. Ouchies.

All of the other stores, however, were closed. I guess I’ll have to check them out in the morning. I really want a new shirt, and now that I think about it, the town flag is looking a bit average. There was one store open though, the Re-Tail store, it allowed me to trade in all the shells and fruit I collected for cash. I could also check out the Turnip prices now here too. The sheep in charge was nice.

I soon collected enough shells, fruit and bugs from around my new home to get the 10,000 bells required to begin work on my house! But, like the other stores, the real estate agent was closed. Well, what else is there to do in the middle of the night?

On the way back into the village, I found a real problem, there was some good shells washed up on the beach, but I couldn’t access that part of the shoreline. Hopefully next time I decide on a map for the city, I remember this so that it doesn’t happen again.

With it looking like I’d have to retire for the night I got a photo on my ID, I need one to visit my friends. It was pretty cheap as well.

I then headed to my little tent, content with what I had achieved for the day. Isabelle then showed up with a present. A nice lantern to brighten up my humble abode. After she left I thought I deserved a bed and headed back to the Re-Tail store quickly, before it closed, and picked up a second hand bed. There was no way I was sleeping on the floor!

First thing tomorrow I will head to the real estate office and get my house underway. Everyone is asleep in the village right now, but hopefully I can bring some nightlife to the this little town eventually.
