Forget about playing Madden with a normal controller, now it’s time for the Squishy Football Controller from Nintendo. A recently filed patent suggests Nintendo may have been making a Football (and by Football I mean Gridiron type ball) controller. Like the aforementioned horse seat, the Wii Remote would slot into the side of the controller and you could simulate throwing and running. The patent explains its uses;
Throwing – Players firmly strap their hands to the ball and make a throwing motion. The pitch angle and force of the throw determines the trajectory arc of the throw. Side to side motion determines the yaw angle. Pressing buttons on the Wii remote can adjust other options.
Running – The football controller sense body motion, shifting left and right to dodge tacklers and even jumping motions by raising the ball. Running speed is determined by players making a jogging motion.
Heres a look at the device;
The controller even had recess space for a Nunchuck and room for a Wii Motion Plus to be slotted onto the Wii Remote. The Football controller would be held with a strap on the other side so you didn’t really hike the ball across the room. We doubt well see this controller ever come to fruition, but wouldnt put it past Nintendo.
So whats more zany? This, or the Horse Seat? Tell us below.
