‘Tis the season for announcements, with today WBIE announcing not only one new game in the Lord of the Ring trilogy franchise, but many – but only one has been fully revealed today. First game so far to have some details is The Lord of the Rings: Aragorns Quest, a third-person action adventure for the Nintendo Wii and DS, it’s also heading to the PSP and PS2 later this year.
In Aragorns Quest you’ll be taking on the role of none of other then Aragorn himself, not much of the game itself has been revealed but from the press release we do know you’ll be playing most of the game on horseback, the Wii version will also have a co-op mode featuring Gandalf, and will be developed by Wii exclusive developer Headstrong Games.
“The Lord of the Rings franchise is world renowned for its captivating adventures, and we are creating new experiences in the game space designed to appeal to a wide array of consumer tastes from core to casual,” said Martin Tremblay, President, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “The Lord of the Rings: Aragorns Quest is the first of many different types of games we will be developing with the film and literary rights. It is also the first game allowing kids and their families to interact in their favourite locations and stories from The Lord of the Rings with accessible gameplay.”
