More evidence points to near certain Wii price drop
Indications from retailers point to a Wii price drop happening (at least in the US) and soon
Nintendo can deny it all they want, but a price drop appears certain at this point, with not only American retailer Best Buy showing off a new catalogue with a Wii for $US199, but also reports that during a retailer conference call of an unnamed retailer, the cut is indeed happening and will occur on September 27th. All of the evidence so far only points to an American price drop; however, we have seen the Wii here in Australia receiving discounts via bundles, and even Wii units here stand alone for $349AU.
While the Wii in Australia and America is still slowing on a month by month basis, in Japan things are much worse, with the Wii at levels not seen since there were severe shortages; however, this time Wii consoles are very much in stock.
No matter how stubborn Nintendo have been in the past with prices, it’s obviously time, four years later, for the Wii to receive a price drop. So how much, if anything, will the Wii price drop here?
