The game will have more weapons and a number of features only available online

A couple of days ago, we brought you word that the western version of Monster Hunter Tri will make use of Wii Speak. This was announced at a conference at London’s Science Museum, where it was also confirmed that the European version of the game would have additional features over the Japanese version (released mid-2009). Here is a summary of those features:

• Additional online quests, items and monsters will be released periodically as DLC
• Friend codes will be axed; you will be able to get online and add others to rosters to play another time
• A powerful new weapon called the “Switch Axe”, which can transform between a sword and an axe, will be available
• Some weapons will be online-exclusive i.e. they can only be obtained in online competitions e.g. the switch axe “Sinister Saint”

Monster Hunter Tri will be available in April. For more information about the game, see the press release here.
