THQ has announced a swag of sequels for their biggest-selling games, and were thrilled to see that the Aussie-made de Blob will also be honoured with a sequel.

The head of THQ, Brian Farrell, has today issued a list of titles that will receive sequels including Red Faction, Darksiders and Saints Row. It is a pleasant surprise to see de Blob’s name show against those other ones after a modest performance at retail when it was released two years ago.

If you own a Wii and haven’t picked up the first de Blob then you owe it to yourself to track the title down. The game has some of the brightest, snappiest visuals on the Wii and the premise and gameplay are incredibly engaging and original. It was a delight to see de Blob enter a dark, monochrome wasteland devoid of music and bringing it back to life building-by-building while listening to the game’s fantastic jazz soundtrack get fleshed out along the way.

We’re looking at a tentative release date of 2012 for ’de Blob 2’ and have recieved confirmation from THQ that Blue Tongue Entertainment will be developing the title.
