Monopoly Gamer mixes up a classic with Super Mario (Update: AU Details)

Update: We’ve received word that Monopoly Gamer will be released in Australia this August for $44.99. The collector’s edition will be available from EB Games for $64.99. It has premium packaging and a bonus Bowser token. You can’t get that token anywhere else.

Original Story: Hasbro and Nintendo have been teasing something for a couple of weeks now, we all thought it was just the Switch port of Monopoly. Turns out there’s a little more to it.

Hasbro has announced Monopoly Gamer and it’s Mario themed. It’s Monopoly, but has been given an overhaul to the main mechanics and now includes power-ups, boss fights and Mario coins instead of Monopoly money.

It wouldn’t be a ‘gamer’ edition without DLC, so if you want to buy more characters you can do so for $2.99US.

The entire thing will be out in time for Christmas in the US, we will keep an ear out for an Australian released. Monopoly Gamer will cost $24.99 and there’s a Collectors Edition for $40USD.

I’m a big fan of digital monopoly games, so would definitely get this if I had a Switch. I imagine Medrad will be all over this one?

I don’t see the need for DLC though.

    Oh my GOODNESS!!!!!!!
When is it out? Christmas US is not a clear enough date….
    So going in my collection!
I wonder what the collectors edition is? Golden tokens? Golden coins? Either way, it’s MINE!

Wow… that little kid is a bit of a jerk… can you imagine how awful it would be playing with an adult who acted the same way?

Video or game play needs a tweak! @1:26 they explain the power up option and the options on how to play, die first or power up. Power up first and Peach drops coins (The Player in front) then move 6 to collect. The other way round and he misses the coins Peach drops. The power up say’s ‘the player in front of you’ drops coins, so move 6 then get the player in front to drop coins, that’s Donkey Kong now?

Still a must have for the collection!
