In today’s Nintendo Direct, Mario and Zelda creator Shigeru Miyamoto announced that his two Pikmin short movies will be arriving on 3DS and Wii U eShop today, along with a new demo for Pikmin 3 on Wii U.

The short films were originally unveiled at this year’s Tokyo International Film Festival, and this announcement marks the first time we can see these films in the West.

Each film is about 20 minutes long, and they are both available in a bundle on each eShop. The 3DS download is in 3D, while on Wii U the movies are in HD resolution.

The Pikmin 3 demo that was announced is available now, and will allow new players to retain progress from the demo and continue playing in the full version of the game, if they choose to buy it.

The Pikmin Short Movies are also available now, for AU$6.50.
