The as-yet un-named new entry in the massively popular adventure series was given a very brief glimpse at E3 by Shigeru Miyamoto in the form of a single piece of concept artwork. Since then, details have been limited, but Miyamoto himself has shed some light on a few clues contained within the piece of art- “One thing thats important to note in that artwork, though, is that Link is carrying a shield, but thats all hes carrying.”
Speaking to Nintendo Power magazine, Miyamoto highlighted that Nintendo are aiming to make the gaming experience unique to each player- “Every persons own individual experiences with the game should be unique and (will be) their own sort of ‘My Zelda’ experience, and I think thats super important, and we have to look at that when were creating dungeons and how we can make that come true. So (we’re) spending a lot of time concentrating our efforts in that area.”
The game isn’t likely to deviate from established norms within the Zelda gameplay model- with fans expecting more of the same style of item collecting and dungeon solving so iconic to the series- “Accessible gameplay. Something that were going to look at focusing within that 3-D realm is really highlighting the things that are important within the Zelda franchise–the actions that Link can take. I think its easy to maybe overthink it because youre in that 3-D realm of all the different things you should be doing or try to be doing, and really whats important to understand is whats available to you, and just focus down on whats best suited for that rather than just trying to implement a whole bunch of different things.”
