It looks like Nintendo’s franchise stable may be getting a new addition next year. Speaking in the latest Famitsu Magazine, Shigeru Miyamoto has revealed that he is working on a ‘new franchise’ for Nintendo but can’t say too much just yet.
Miyamoto says that after the release of Mario Kart 8 early next spring (in Japan) it would be a good time for Nintendo to bring out a new IP. It’s not yet known if this game will be on the Wii U or 3DS.
Nintendo’s franchise stable has remained at a stable level for a couple years now, at least as far as retail games go. Nintendo has been testing and experimenting with new and different franchises on the eShop for two years now.
Even with these news eShop franchises its still commonly believed that Nintendo continue to just release Mario, Zelda, Pokemon and Donkey Kong games. Don’t get us wrong, they do but there are new games if you’re prepared to look.
See how much you did, or didn't play things.
