But nothing to announce just yet.

It looks like it’s not just games Nintendo wants to bring to smartphones now, but also amiibo as well.

Speaking in a post-Apple keynote interview, Shigeru Miyamoto has revealed the company is definently interested in bringing amiibo support to smartphones.

There’s nothing we can announce today but It’s certainly an area we’re interested in, and today Apple announced some new news about their NFC technology. Until the announcement this morning there wasn’t a whole lot we could do, but now we can look at what they’ve said and how we might have an opportunity to use that.

Since it was at an Apple event Miyamoto of course referred to the NFC ship in the iPhone, but of course other phones also support the standard. Apple would also have to open the chip up, it’s only used for Apple Pay and now FeliCa in Japan.

Giving even more things for amiibo figures to do would be a great move by Nintendo, especially since Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing and Mario are coming to phones.

Would you like to see amiibo support on phones and what else could they be used for?
