With rumours of the Wii successor coming in thick and fast, it was only a matter of time before someone from Nintendo weighed in on the discussion, and that someone is Shigeru Miyamoto.
Speaking at an event in London, the legendary developer has confirmed that the development of the console is under way but suggests that all the rumours doing the rounds may not be true.
When asked at the event about the system, he gave a firm "dont ask!" response. He said that despite that they might be working on something, theyre not going to talk about it, and they havent even decided if theyre going to show anything at E3.
Elsewhere on the Internet, French site Gameblog has posted their full interview with Miyamoto and its revealed even more cryptic quotes about Project Café. In the interview he has said "yes, I have read rumours about Café, I want to say its normal. You know, for Nintendo, as with the other platform holders, our job is to create new hardware."
"We think it takes five years to do interesting R&D. So, I confess there isnt smoke without fire. We always build consoles. Youll never see some of them.
"But you dont have to trust all the stuff you read," finished Miyamoto.
No smoke without fire? So maybe there are some truths to some of the billion rumors flying around.
