Since 2012 if you’ve visited The Louvre museum in Paris you’ve been able rent out a Nintendo 3DS to use as a tour guide. Now you can just cut out the whole traveling to France part and explore the Louvre on your 3DS at home.
Revealed during a mini-Nintendo Direct released by Nintendo today the application is now available on the eShop. The app costs for $23.00 and for your money you get the game guided experience of the museum but at home. There’s over “600 images of artwork, nearly 30 hours of audio commentary, and more than 400 photos of the museum interior including 360° panoramic 3D photos of gallery spaces.” If you’re into art, it’s as comprehensive as it comes.
The Mini Direct is well worth a watch as Miyamoto and Iwata tour the real Louvre with the guide. So yes if you ever visit Paris and the museum you can use the guide there too.
There’s also a new Iwata Asks feature on the application, Miyamoto has been working on this application for 5-6 years indirectly. It’s an interesting read.
