Minecraft: Wii U Edition comes to the eShop on 17th December
Nintendo Europe has just announced that Minecraft is headed to the Wii U on December 17th. Nintendo says that they will be working with Mojang on new content packs for Nintendo fans to be released at a later time.
Minecraft: Wii U Edition has been rumoured for a while now and it all came to a head a couple of days before the last Nintendo Direct when the game was classified in Europe. The Direct came and we never got Minecraft – but here it is.
The game features Off-TV play, but no word yet if the inventory will make it to the touch screen. Surely after this long it should.
Along with the vanilla game a number of content packs will be released on the eShop along with the game.
The following packs will be free;
- Battle & Beasts Skin Pack
- Battle & Beasts 2 Skin Pack
- Natural Texture Pack
- City Texture Pack
- Fantasy Texture Pack
- Festive Mash-up Pack
There’s also these sixteen packs to purchase if you so please.
- Festive Skin Pack
- The Simpsons Skin Pack
- Doctor Who Skins Volume 1
- Doctor Who Skins Volume 2
- Star Wars Classic Skin Pack
- Star Wars Rebels Skin Pack
- Star Wars Prequel Skin Pack
- Mass Effect Mash-up Pack
- Skyrim Mash-up Pack
- Plastic Texture Pack
- Candy Texture Pack
- Cartoon Texture Pack
- Steampunk Texture Pack
- Pattern Texture Pack
The game is said to cost $29US which here in Australia will be around $35AUD but we’ll follow up with Nintendo to confirm.
mmm.. see the new star wars film or download a six year old game, after already owning it for multiple platforms already…. tough choice
$35 AUD for a game I paid <$30 AUD on PC back in Beta days… can purchase for $25AUD from Woolies…
Definitely not going for this one, but touch screen would be an awesome bonus.
Nintendo. AU tweeted we get it here on the 18th, so don’t have to choose between Star Wars and Minecraft for Wii U.
This would have been great back in 2013…dare I say it would have been a game changer for the Wii U if it got it along with everyone else and had the touch screen to become the better version…better late than never right? Um, no.
