Announced during Microsoft’s E3 press conference is a new update coming to Minecraft this August. The update is called ‘Better Together’ and will unite the game across nearly every platform it’s on. The update will allow anyone from the Switch to the Xbox One, to mobile and more to play together for the very first time with cross-play (the PS4 isn’t getting this ability right away). The update goes further making the game the same across all platforms, any DLC you own for one will work on the other as well.
The game will also get the Realms update, a new multiplayer mode. There’s also the new Community Marketplace and support for infinite worlds has also be added.
The game will now simply be known as Minecraft, ditching the ‘X edition’ on the end. The Wii U version of the game, along with the PS3 and Xbox 360 are considered to be ‘legacy’ and will not get the update.
This massive update will arrive this August, we’ll update you when we have a closer date.
Get in quick, they go fast.
