Metroid Prime Trilogy discontinued in North America

For whatever reason, Nintendo America has discontinued Metroid Prime Trilogy after only four months

Games are discontinued for many reasons, but usually not just 4 months after release. Acting on a hunch after seeing the game always sold out on Amazon.com, the owner of the blog Coffee with Games contacted Nintendo America to see what was up.

The big N replied of course with the bad news. "Unfortunately, Metroid Prime Trilogy is no longer being shipped. Having said that, you may be able to find what you seek through the secondhand video game market." Further questioning proved fruitful, with Nintendo saying, "When first introduced, it was announced that there would be limited availability. However, a reason for this was not announced."

The game was a Collectors Edition, and thus Nintendo could simply be discontinuing the special tin version and releasing the game in normal packaging. Nintendo America also state that the other New Play Control titles, of which Metroid Prime 1 and 2 were originally apart of, would remain. Could Nintendo America be splitting them up for release?

Whatever the reason, if you want a special edition tin you better act fast and import. No word if the Australian version is suffering the same fate.
