How could it not have?
Nintendo’s showing at E3 2015 wasn’t its most strongest and the negative reaction couldn’t have been anymore stronger than that of the one Metroid Prime: Federation Force got. Essentially a Metroid Prime game in name only most fans were slightly miffed at the use (or abuse) of the Metroid Prime name, something that isn’t lost on Nintendo.
Speaking to Mashable, Nintendo of America’s Reggie Fils-Aime has said that “What the fan at home saw was something in the Metroid Prime universe that they weren’t expecting. The reaction has been negative. There’s no sugar coating it”
“This is an example where fans who aren’t able to get their hands on the game may be at a bit of a competitive disadvantage. Everyone who has played what we are showing regarding Metroid Prime, they’ve come across really pleased, My ask is that fans trust us.”
Metroid Prime: Federation Force is just one of the many titles Nintendo is touting part of its “transformation”. “We’re taking our great IP and transforming them and making them new again — making them fresh and appealing for the fan who feels they know the franchise. But we’re giving them new things to enjoy” says Reggie.
Reggie feels that people who got to play the game at the show really enjoyed it, while the people at home were at a disadvantage.
So what do you think, could you still enjoy the game even though it’s not ‘Metroid Prime’ as you know it. Let us know in the comments.
