Mario Kart 8 reaches 8 million sold, 61% of all Wii U owners
For all the bad news about the Wii U, there’s one glimmer of amazing news in it all – just how much Mario Kart 8 has sold.
With it’s latest financial results Nintendo has confirmed that Mario Kart 8 has now sold, fittingly enough, 8 million copies. That’s on a system with just 13.36 million units sold in sold, 61% of people who own a Wii U have the game.
It’s easy to see why Nintendo has managed to pull off this amazing attach rate and you only need look at the latest sales report. In the last reported period from April to September this year Nintendo sold 340,000 Wii U consoles, it also sold 300,000 copies of Mario Kart 8. It’s almost one for one.
And who can blame anyone? Mario Kart 8 is amazing and no wonder Nintendo want to bring it to the Switch.
