Hideki Konno and Kosuke Yabuki of Nintendo recently answered a few questions about Mario Kart 8, following up on information released during E3 this year. There’s a few small interesting details, like the Goomba having no hands to drive being the reason he’s never been a character, along with some insight into this new installment.

The anti-gravity segments were invented as a way to keep the series fresh, being inspired by F-Zero and Super Mario Galaxy. Oh, and speaking of F-Zero, a new installment is something they’d like to look into, with no definitive answer.

As we’ve seen from trailers and footage, bikes are coming back, as well as kart customisation, a la Mario Kart 7 on the 3DS. And for those wanting some sort of 3DS to Wii U connectivity, it’s being looked into, but for next time. Fingers crossed for some Double Dash gameplay in the future!

You can read the full interview here, but it’s in French. And let us know in the comments below what’s got you most excited this time around!
