Mario and Zelda characters join Scribblenauts Unlimited on Wii U

Scribblenauts Unlimited developer 5th Cell, recently teased the gaming community with a cryptic picture of Maxwell standing beside two greyed out groups of people and the phrase “Guess who’s playing with Maxwell? Find out October 17th”.

Well October 17th has come, and the new characters are all Nintendo first-party characters, with 5th Cell revealing that Yoshi, Peach, Mario, Luigi, Link, Zelda, Epona and Goron, along with a bunch of Nintendo-themed items, are exclusive to the WiiU version of the game.

“Players will delight in producing fantastical and sometimes hilarious interactions between the Mario and Legend of Zelda characters and objects, alongside everyone’s favorite word-wielding Scribblenauts adventurer, Maxwell. Discovered Nintendo characters and objects will behave in the fun and fantastical ways they do in their respective game worlds.”

According to Game Informers Jim Reilly, you won’t be able to apply any of the in-game adjectives to Nintendo objects, so making a pink Goron ride a flying purple Yoshi is, unfortunately, no longer on the to-do list.

While this is nice I’m still just hoping that they make the game a bit more fun overall. It’s great for a few hours but then it just gets tiring as the puzzles are either to easy or freakishly impossible.

Mind you if you can solve every puzzle with Mario in his Tanooki suit then I’m cool with that. 😀
