Mantis Burn Racing joins the cross-play action on Switch
Nintendo seem to be bucking their online history a great deal with Switch as VooFoo Studios has announced that when Mantis Burn Racing is released on Switch, later this year, it will support full cross-play with Xbox One and Steam owners of the game. This joins the ranks alongside fellow car game Rocket League, 3rd person shooter Crazy Justice and the endless Minecraft.
The decision comes down to the fact that the team have been able to get Mantis Burn Racing to run at 60fps on the Switch, which matches the other platforms.
“We’ve been spending a lot of time getting to grips with the capabilities of the Switch – we’ve learnt a lot by digging deeper into the hardware” said Mark Williams, Technology Director at VooFoo Studios. “The Switch’s performance analysis tools have allowed us to understand where frame rate improvements could be made and we’re really pleased to have the game running at a consistently smooth 60fps – we were determined to make the Switch version the best it can be.”
VooFoo Studios have also confirmed that 3 and 4 player local split-screen races are locked at 30fps, with 2 player split-screen running at a variable 30-60fps.
