The Super Mario Galaxy composer also helped remaster the Ocarina of Time 3D soundtrack

The name Mahito Yokota may or may not ring a bell for you. He worked alongside legendary Nintendo composer Koji Kondo in developing the Super Mario Galaxy soundtrack. In fact, Yokota composed all but four of the games musical pieces. In the latest Iwata Asks, the Nintendo CEO sat down with Kondo and Yokota to discuss the music remastering process in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D.

Working with the Japanese transcript of the interview, it seems the soundtrack has been adapted for the 3DSs "surround sound" speakers. Talk of "orchestration" is also scattered through the interview, but whether this means the remastered soundtrack has indeed been orchestrated or actually arranged as a MIDI may be clarified in the English translation.

Its revealed that Yokota is also working on the soundtrack for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword on Wii. If the quality of music matches that of his Super Mario Galaxy soundtrack, then we may be in for an aurally orgasmic game.

Ocarina of Time 3D is out on June 30, with Skyward Sword releasing some time this year.
