Luigi to get more time in the spotlight with New Super Luigi U

The greener and taller brother gets his first ever expansion.

New Super Mario Bros U. is set to get its first downloadable content, and it appears to be a rather meaty expansion pack starring none other than Luigi himself.

The expansion, titled New Super Luigi U is solely focused on Luigi himself, hence the lack of “Bros.” in the title of the pack. It will be an all-new adventure for Luigi, and will revamp the courses already in the game into all new ones. The game will be selectable via an icon on the file select screen of New Super Mario Bros. U, and will be made available to download at a later date.

Nintendo were notably quiet about when the game will be releasing – as well as which team were developing it, but they assured us that this expansion is a “large scale development” and will take some time.

We’re honestly not sure what to expect, but it’s nice to see Nintendo embracing DLC in a substantial way.
