Lots of new GoldenEye 007 for Wii details
Some more playable characters have been revealed as well as a few more multiplayer modes
The game’s debut trailer revealed three of the eight classic characters that will be available in multiplayer – Scaramanga, Jaws and Oddjob – and now three more have been uncovered. They will be Rosa Klebb, Red Grant (both from the film From Russia With Love) and Dr. No (Dr. No).
In addition to the Paintball, Melee Only (which we assume is a new take on the hilarious Slappers Only) and You Only Live Twice multiplayer modes mentioned in the trailer, there will also be Proximity Mines and Pistols Only modes, plus Conflict and Team Conflict online.
In regards to the single-player mode, there will be "lots of voice-acting" and, as we know, Daniel Craig’s voice and likeness will portray Bond. The gameplay will be based on the 1995 film, not the N64 game per se, so we probably won’t see levels like Aztec and Egyptian making a return. As such, Activision has been working with writers from the original film and set-designers associated with the Bond franchise in designing the levels. Additionally, AI enemies will have different actions depending on what you do in a mission.
The game will support the Classic Controller, and the Wii Remote’s speaker will be used as a "telephone when playing pointer-style". Wait a minute, there were no telephones in GoldenEye 007! Finally, the game’s soundtrack will be composed by David Arnold, who has scored the five most recent Bond films, and the script will be written by Bruce Feirstein, who wrote the screenplay of the original film.
David G. Wilson, son of long-time Bond film producer Michael G. Wilson, told ONM UK that "there are massive expectations which are both worrying and exciting for us [in making the game], and we know that this game has to be as innovative and ground-breaking as that first title was."
GoldenEye 007 will be released at the end of this year exclusive to Wii.
