The chairman of Frontier Developments details new gameplay mechanics for the much anticipated WiiWare sequel to Lost Winds.

David Braben spoke with Nintendo World Report to flesh out details of the as-yet still in development sequel due for release later this year. Braben mentioned that “The game isn’t quite finished yet. We’re certainly expecting it to be longer, but we don’t want to put a figure on it just yet.” The game world will be deeper in complexity compared to the original, as a Summer/Winter cycle of the game world will affect returning protagonist Toku’s abilities and the areas he can access. Different skills will be tied to the two different seasons, with the new ability ‘Cyclone’ allowing Toku to move and use water through movable rain clouds.

All of Toku’s abilities from the original WiiWare launch title will remain intact, and the gameplay will remain focused on puzzle-solving oriented platforming.
