Link or create a NNID on the 3DS – Get Super Mario Bros. Deluxe for free
Nintendo 3DS users have yet another reason to link up their console to the Nintendo Network.
Shibata had his own time to shine in tonight’s Nintendo Direct and managed to announce some more eShop promotional deals for 3DS owners. First of all, Super Mario Bros. 3 will be coming to the Virtual Console on both Wii U and 3DS on the 26th of December, with a special launch price. We don’t have confirmation of local pricing just yet but will let you know when we do.
Additionally, Shibata announced a new promotion where users can link their Nintendo Network ID to their account and download a free copy of Super Mario Bros. Deluxe. The code to download the game will be emailed to the email address associated with your account (before February 13th) – so make sure you’ve got the right address listed before you sign up! When we get a chance to confirm local Australian details for these deals we will be sure to update this story.

Join Nintendo Network Promotion: Following the 10th December system update, Nintendo 3DS owners who have registered a Nintendo Network ID on their system, or have linked an ID they currently use on their Wii U console, can get a free download code for Game Boy Color classic Super Mario Bros. Deluxe on Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console if they perform this registration process between 10th December 2013 and 31st January 2014. Download codes will be sent between 13th February and 28th February 2014 to the email address registered to an owner’s Nintendo Network ID.

Ugh…get an NNID for this…but in exchange, lose region switching :S
Will Super Mario Bros. 3 be shared across the account? So if I buy SMB3 on 3DS will I also be able to play it on Wii U without buying it again?
No, Nintendo doesn’t do cross buy.
Most likely not considering that the 3DS version is more expensive in the U.K. than the Wii U version. God knows why though. =/
Nintendo’s ridiculous VC pricing would be easier to swallow if we could download all of our VC games across both platforms (and it would certainly encourage more sales).
