Limited Run Games thinking about bringing their titles to Switch

Vita the life bringer.

Limited Run Games are thinking about their post-Vita life and their games could find a home on the Nintendo Switch.

For those who don’t know, Limited Run Games brings digital releases to physical formats. The catch? As the company name suggests all these games get a ‘limited run’ and only a small number of copies are produced. It’s another way indie developers can bring their games to market, a market they might not otherwise find.

At the moment a lot of Limited Run’s games end up on the PlayStation Vita or PS4, but predominantly the Vita. So what happens when Sony eventually (officially) pulls the plug on that console?

Speaking to Gadgets360, Limited Run Games co-founder Josh Fairhurst says that while he hopes PlayStation fans would just jump to PS4 releases, maybe the portable players will jump onto the Switch.

I also see a lot of opportunity in the Nintendo Switch. I think many Vita fans will pick one up, maybe even begrudgingly, by the time the Vita is phased out. If we start publishing games there, I think that would be a nice place for Vita fans to relocate, should that become a necessity.

So why not the 3DS?

We’re really going to try and focus on going all-out on the Switch, Moving to 3DS would be costly and time-consuming and by the time we figure it out, we might as well just have focused on the Switch.

Limited Run Games has published games like Octodad: Dadliest Catch, Thomas Was Alone, Shantae: Risky’s Revenge, Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD and Firewatch. These games would likely never get a retail release if it wasn’t for them.
