Level 5 announce new games, new Layton title with a bonus

In a press conference today Professor Layton developers showed off their upcoming wares

At Level-5’s annual ’Vision’ conference the developers showed off their upcoming line-up, including a new Professor Layton title with a bonus RPG, another new RPG, and a new type of game.

Not only will there be a new Professor Layton game out in Japan this year, but the big news is that the game will include a huge 100 hour RPG in the game that is unlocked once you clear the first traditional Layton game

The game, dubbed Professor Layton’s London Life, will put you in control of your own character, wit your goal being to bring happiness to the people of London. The game is being developed by Mother 3 developers Brownie Brown. The game isn’t entirely new, though, as it share similarities to other game announced by Level 5 Fantasy Life. This is intentional, however, as it’s meant to be a teaser for the game to come.

Fantasy Life was another game Level-5 announced, and like London Life the game has been described a ‘slow life RPG’ for the Nintendo DS. The idea of the game is to live life however you live: you create your own character’s gender and physical appearance – that’s all pretty standard, however you’ll also have to choose a Life. This Life is a name for your in-game job, yes, unfortunately, you need one of these in the game, too. These Lifes have Quests that must be fulfilled, and when you do you’ll get a conclusion to the quest. But it’s not the end of the game by any means. The game is also being developed by Brownie Brown and has music from famed Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu.

Finally, Level-5 showed off Ni no Kuni, which was revealed a while back now; Ni no Kuni is also known as The Another World. The game sadly has also been delayed until next year (we haven’t heard that this year before, have we?). Interestingly, the game will come out on a 4Gb cartridge, making it the biggest game on the DS ever (mainly due to the music the game will have).

There’s no word yet if any of these titles will make it out of Japan but it’s likely. Professor Layton and Pandora’s Box, the second game in the series, is finally making its way here on the 24th of September, so don’t expect the fourth for a while yet.
