Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires’ Conspiracy Deluxe Edition is finally coming to the west. The game which was released in Japan last year will arrive on November 8th.

The Deluxe Edition comes with 40 new puzzles changed from the 3DS version, HD visual, all of the DLC and 50 new outfits. These outfits were previously unlocked by buying Gacha toys with NFC in them. You won’t need to that for the western release.

Here’s the trailer from the 3DS version.

Yes!! Can’t wait to have puzzles on the big screen for once.
I better go finish off Azran Legacy…

I still have to get through Miracle Mask, Azran Legacy, and the Phoenix Wright crossover! I’ve completed all of the original DS games though. I have a bad habit of putting these sorts of games on hold and then completely forgetting the story or what to do next when I eventually come back to it (I did the same with all pre-BOTW Zelda games).

I skipped this on 3DS due to there not being stereoscopic 3D, the unfavourable reviews, the scummy paid DLC (making it the most expensive entry in the series yet), and the fact that it was released on mobile with higher quality visuals made me suspect that a HD port on Switch was a possibility, and my suspicion was proven correct upon its Japanese release last year, with the paid DLC from the 3DS game intact, rendering the 3DS version completely redundant in my eyes.

I’m just baffled that they are releasing this during the silly season, where it’ll be fighting for shelf space alongside AAA blockbuster titles that late in the year. One would think that Nintendo would have considered making this a mid-year release when their release schedule is looking a bit thin. In fact, Nintendo have only released THREE retail Switch games so far this year (being New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, Yoshi’s Crafted World, and Super Mario Maker 2). To put things into perspective, Nintendo has also released two 3DS games in the same period, meaning that Nintendo’s first-party line-up for 3DS has been nearly equal to that of the Switch.

With only one platform to support nowadays, you’d think that Nintendo would have a hell of a lot more to offer. Whatever happened to all of their lower budget, more casual/family-focused titles that would normally be released at this time of year?
