Your favourite Disney characters return to make their 3D debut early next year. Kingdom Hearts fans, lend me your ears—the seventh and latest instalment in the series is coming to the Nintendo 3DS next year and will introduce gameplay mechanics never before seen in the series. Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance sees King MIckey and Yen Sid prepare for the impending return of Master Xehanort by putting Sora and Riku through the Mark of Mastery Exam.

Sora and Riku (who you play) will encounter new enemies and allies as they traverse the Sleeping Worlds on their quest to become true Keyblade Masters and counter Master Xehanort. Features of the game include new Disney worlds, such as La Cité des Cloches (The Hunchback of Notre Dame), and over 50 new creatures called Dream Eaters which you will need to recruit fight alongside Sora and Riku.

Youll see the series make a big step forward not just with the updated looks for Sora and Riku, but as you feel the impending conflict. The game will also have “free-flow” action which will allow you to execute quick and easy movements while interacting with the world and performing acrobatic attacks. See the announcement trailer below.

Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance will be out exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS in 2012.
