Left handed people rejoice, we can actually play the game now.
The mastermind behind the Smash Bros series and now Kid Icarus Uprising, Masahiro Sakurai has told Official Nintendo Magazine in the latest issue that the game will support the Circle Pad Pro. This now means that left handed people can play the game, people like me who have been complaining to Mr Sakurai on Twitter weekly about it.
The Circle Pad Pro won’t change the game’s controls, it will simply allow left handed people to play the game with the stylus in their left hand and use the right Circle Pad. “The way we are using the Circle Pad Pro in the game is to provide support for left-handed gamers,” Sakurai told Official Nintendo Magazine. “We’ve made it possible to use the right Circle Pad in place of the left one.”
So why couldn’t Sora put in an alternative control scheme that might replace the stylus controls? “I didn’t know the specs of the Circle Pad Pro, or what it looked like, until Monster Hunter 3G was announced, so we weren’t able to do anything big with it in the time we had. Even if we had known about it from the start, I don’t know whether we would have used both Circle Pads in that way.” he told the magazine. “This would end up being just the same as controls on other platforms and I think the quick aiming possible with the touch panel suits the game best.”
We played Kid Icarus Uprising back in Tokyo at the Nintendo World 2011 Expo this time last year, well we attempted. The game just does not work at all with left handed people so I’m happy and I’m sure others are that they’ll be able to play the game. Now you right handed people, go on mocking us, we’ve got Kid Icarus to play too.
