Half way through its Kickstarter campaign, the up-yours to Capcom that is Keiji Inafune’s Mighty No. 9 has just passed the stretched goal required for it to be released on the Wii U eShop as well as the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
The game is the brainchild of Keiji Inafune, who along with a bunch of other ex-Mega Man team mates are putting this new game together through the power of Kickstarter. The team includes Nayoa Tomita and Manami Matsumae who worked as the level designer and composer for the original Mega Man. The artist for Mega Man Legends, Shinsuke Komaki is also on the team and even some of the team who worked on Mega Man 9 and Mega Man 10 are involved.
Mighty No. 9 is a side-scrolling shooter, you take control of Beck. He’s the ninth robot in a series called ‘Mighty Numbers”, the other eight Mighty Numbers have gone rouge thanks a pesky virus and it’s up to Back to stop them. As Beck defeats each boss he gains a new power, in addition Beck also has the ability to change his limbs into different tools to help him get around.
Sounds awfully familiar. This Kickstarter was already a dead-set lock a month or so ago, now with it reaching the Wii U milestone you’ll be able to get it on the Wii U if you so wish.
