Japan’s favourite Pokémon has been decided – It’s Greninja

Pikachu might be the face of Pokemon, but in Japan at least he’s not even in the top three favourites. A poll was recently held in Japan to decide who their favourite, the winner? Greninja amassing 36,235 votes from 562,386 who voted.
In second was Arceus, and in Mew took third. Pikachu still got in the top ten taking home forth at least. Charizard languished all the back in 9th. Rubbish.
Simisear came in last, just in case you were wondering.

The voting was to determine which pokemon would be distributed as an event pokemon at the next movie. That’s why there are so many legendaries up there (if you look at the top 50, 35 of them are legendary/mythical pokemon!). That’s probably also why Pikachu didn’t make it to #1.
Still pretty interesting that Greninja made it to the top spot, though!
