Japan has banned the sale of the R4 cartridge in Japan. The cartridge is often used for user created software known as ‘Homebrew’ and the piracy of games on the Nintendo DS. The ruling of the Tokyo district court prevents the sale of the products in shops and online in Japan. The group of Nintendo and 54 other developers will “”pursue legal actions against game copying devices that allow the play of illegal copied software made available on the Internet””. Previously retailers had removed the card in fear of getting prosecuted but this ban now makes it illegal and official. Source: Kotaku
