The combined sales of each the DSs iterations has topped 26 million in Japan alone according to top Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu. The DS, DS Lite, and DSi have each sold 6,449,206, 17,610,348 and 2,024,431 units respectively, representing all sales since the original DS was released in 2004. For comparison, that is the same value as the entire population of Australia and New Zealand combined. Go on, check Wikipedia, its true! We’ll wait. More inside The news comes hot on the heels of recent sales figures that indicate the DS has sold over 100 million units worldwide. Picture that- over one quarter of all DS handhelds have been sold inland of the rising sun alone. The figure of 2 million DSi units sold since its release in Japan in November last year is equally as impressive- the new handheld has already sold a third of the amount of the original Phat model in less than 4 months.
