Hudson Soft plans to boost its profit almost fourfold within three years by focusing on games for the Nintendo Wii. The company plans to release eight titles for the machine in 2008, a sign that third party developers are starting to really get behind the Wii. Chiba-gin Asset Management Company’s Yoshihiro Okumura said the game-software industry was one of the sectors that would lead corporate earnings in Japan this fiscal year. More inside “”In particular, companies related to Nintendo have a lot of room for profit growth,”” Yoshihiro said.

Bloomberg.com reported Hudson’s operating profit rose 53 per cent to 2.7 billion yen in the year ended March 31, which was more than the company’s 2 billion yen forecast. This was because of stronger-than-expected game sales for Nintendo’s Wii and DS according to Hudson’s March 4 preliminary earnings report.
