Gladiator A.D. will make use of High Voltage’s spiffy Quantum3 engine which was developed specifically to squeeze the best visual performance from the Wii hardware and is used to fuel the much-anticipated first person shooter ‘The Conduit’. In an exclusive interview with IGN, High Voltage’s head man Kerry Ganosky described what makes their brutal new fighting game so unique- “Gladiator A.D. is not a traditional 3D fighting game. Its more of a hybrid between 3D Fighting games like Bushido Blade and Boxing games like Fight Night. The action is intense, but the combat is strategic. You need to learn your opponents weaknesses and think through your attack patterns to succeed. There is no button-mashing here.”
The fighter will be compatible with MotionPlus and support local multiplayer, with online support still being considered by High Voltage. The announcement of the game is one of many in the lead-up to E3 next week, with High Voltage declaring a second unannounced game using the same technology is also in the works.
