Thats right people, the Nintendo DS has been in out in Australia for one year! Your warranty may have expired but it is indeed time to celebrate. The Nintendo DS is the little system no one had any faith in. People screamed underpowered, gimmicky and ugly compared to the more powerful upcoming PSP, but it has proven no deterrent as the Nintendo DS goes from strength to strength.
While the “”ugliness”” of the Nintendo DS is being fixed with the DS Lite, the Nintendo DS has continued to prove itself. Who would have thought Nintendogs was the big hit it was? Kirby Canvas Curse, Meteos, Polarium, Project Rub brought new ways to play games to the table while sequels to favourites such as Advance Wars, Castlevania, Sonic the Hedgehog and others proving that developers like the Nintendo DS as much as us.
Nintendo Wifi Connection, was it worth the wait? Damn right it was! Every month and every news conference we hoped for more information, and then one-day just BAM! News flooded in and the wait for the games commenced. We waited until November and then within a space of a month we had Mario Kart DS, Animal Crossing: Wild World and Tony Hawk’s American Sk8land and even without Wifi Connection play would still be the AAA games they are today.
So whats to look forward to? In two words… Brain Training. You thought Nintendogs was big in Japan? This series of games has absolutely blown it out of the water. Not only has it sold millions and millions of copies, it has brought Nintendo to its knees. The Nintendo DS is a such a hot item that for most of January it consistently sold out! However even when “”sold out”” most of the time it still outsold the PSP and PS2!
Nintendo DS owners can also look forward to Tetris DS, Metroid Prime Hunters, Super Princess Peach, Resident Evil Deadly Silence, New Super Mario Bros, Children of Mana, Final Fantasy 3, Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, Pokemon Trozei! and more this year. Expect Nintendo to show off what will be coming in the latter half of this year at this years E3, then of course the Opera Web Browser and TV Tuner, stick with it because the Nintendo DS is just getting better and better.
So now I turn the tables to you… What do you think of the Nintendo DS’s first year? Voice your opinions at this thread in the forums!
Definitively done with the Wii U now.
But it's not for everyone yet.
