Hack removes region lock from Nintendo 3DS

If you have an ancient 3DS firmware.

Everyday that the region lock for the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U exists is a day that the human race is held back from being accepted into the Galactic Federation of Awesome.

Now we might be a step closer. A hacker team has been able to disable the region lock of the Nintendo 3DS so it can play game cards from any region. It works, but it’s not so simple to get to work. You need a DS Flashcard and your Nintendo 3DS has to be on an ancient 4.5 firmware. Once the hack is in place you can then update your firmware and the hack will remain but online play remains off limits for some titles still.

It’s unlikely that Nintendo will respond to this, after all how many people have a 3DS on firmware 4.5 anymore?
