A record amount of money was spent on gaming hardware in the UK in 2008 with more than 2.1 billion pounds (thats 4.3 billion kangaroo-dollars) spent in the land of the Spice Girls, echoing the global trend of increased video game sales. Leading the pack in hardware sales was the Nintendo Wii, which generated a stellar 481 million pound ($990 million AUD) flow-through of cash. Coming in second of course was the DS at 366 million pounds ($754 million AUD). More inside Even in the calm before a major global recession, people are still finding money to splash on video games, but who can blame the Brits? I would gladly spend my time playing Wii Sports Tennis with my nana whilst the world crumbles outside.
