Graffiti without the practical and legal hassles – Wii style

Two German programmers have developed an ingenious graffiti app for the Wii

Its not often that graffiti is encouraged – usually its classed as vandalism, but two German programmers, Martin Lihs and Frank Matuse, have fused two wacky ideas – street art and the Wii Remote together to create Wii Spray, an application that allows users to graffiti in the comfort of their own homes.

WiiSpray is a Flash Application that is projected onto a wall via a computer. The remote snaps inside a specially made spray paint canister, which is able to regognise interchangable nossles. The remote is then connected to a wireless BlueTooth access point on the computer which allows the user to interact with the Flash appliction. The application itself is the usual paint app with 128 colours to choose from.

Despite its early experimental stage, WiiSpray has managed to score a share in one of Europes most prestigious design prizes – the iF Communication Design Award. All sound a bit confusing? Take a look at WiiSpray in action below.
