Fancy a bit of dark fantasy-inspired sword slashing in your living room? Newly announced Ghostslayer might be just your thing

Gevo Entertainment’s newly announced sword fighting game for WiiWare will feature a range of different enemy types and usable weapons that will hopefully provide a diverse range of sword-swinging gameplay. The title has a reasonably fleshed-out backstory for a WiiWare game, with the main character using swords and swords alone to save his village people from the Ghost Queen’s legion of undead warriors who are threatening the village’s water supply. There looks to be RPG-lite elements as well, with four different sword types to be unlocked along the way.

The game is certainly Gevo Entertainment’s most mature effort to date and a welcome departure from their Diva Girls games on Wii and DS.

The swordplay in Wii Sports Resort was great, but GhostSlayer just may provide a deeper combat experience and setting. The simple presentation and concept make it ideal for a WiiWare game as there just doesn’t seem to be enough here for a full retail game. The game has a rough first quarter release window.
