Gametraders selling Ocarina of Time 3D early, but…
Gametraders selling EU imports of Ocarina of Time means no CD for you
We’ve been listening to the goss on Twitter today and it seems that several Victorian Gametraders have and had copies of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D for sale today. Sydney stores are apparently selling from tomorrow as well. However what they are selling is the European copy of the game – there’s nothing wrong with that (Nintendo might see it differently though) and it will work fine in your Australian Nintendo 3DS.
However these are not Australian copies and will not come with a Australian Club Nintendo code for you to redeem your free Ocarina of Time 3D Soundtrack. They’ll have a European soundtrack which might be possible to redeem but you’ll have to have an European address and European Club Nintendo account. A worker at a Victorian store confirmed which version they had on hand.
We’re not able to confirm if the EU code in the game will work with the AU Club Nintendo. While other EU Club Nintendo codes work for third party titles, we’re of the understanding that first party (ex Zelda, Pilotwings) codes do not.
To tell the difference is simple, the Australian version looks as above. Gold cover and big green G rating from the Classification Board. European copies will be the artwork of Link riding on Epona in Hyrule Field (much like our site background).
Selling imports is nothing new for retailers, but they’re advertising it as the Australian version – when clearly it is not.
