Gameloft (developer of such WiiWare titles as Brain Challenge, TV Show King, and Wild West guns) has gained from Interplay a multi-year license to develop, distribute, and publish Earthworm Jim.
“Earthworm Jim resonates with millions of people worldwide and we are excited to have one of the best developers in the industry create this game for a new audience,” says Herve Caen, CEO, Interplay. “Gameloft’s creativity coupled with its innate knack for innovative games, makes us 100% confident that the result will be nothing short of stellar.”
Originally released in 1994, the first entry in this run and gun series was praised for its bizarre setting, great graphics, and quirky sense of humour. While its first sequel had similar high acclaim, the following two games were met with mediocre reviews. Hopefully the upcoming game can make a return to the magic of the original.
Earthworm Jim will be making its way onto WiiWare, XBLA, PSN, and mobile devices in Q4 2009.
