Last weeks Nintendo Direct not only just showed off a bunch of new footage of Game & Wario but also brought an Iwata Asks interview along with it.
As per usual, Satoru Iwata sat with the development team who worked on the game to let us all know about how it was put together.
The biggest news is the revelation that the game was originally planned to be included on every Wii U console.
“At first, the idea was to make a game that would come preinstalled on the Wii U console. I became involved in the project when it was already underway, and I began by asking myself what kind of games the Wii U GamePad might make possible” says game director Goro Abe. However, it was likely that this game would not have been a WarioWare themed game at all but instead just something simple and easy for people to play.
Some of the games within Game & Wario began their life as tech demos at E3 Expos gone by and these demos were much more simple.
“Our basic premise was that this should be a game that everyone could enjoy. The WarioWare team have always had free reign to come up with all kinds of zany ideas, but we now found that we had to restrain ourselves…”
So without being able to make the games into Game & Wario it could have been something much more boring.
Game & Wario is out in Australia on June 29th, will you be picking it up?
