GAME Plans Aggressive Assault on Aussie Gaming Retail Market
Some of you may remember the time around late September 2006 when Gameswizards was bought out to the United Kingdom retailer “”The Game Group.”” Now in addition to refurbishing these stores under the GAME label, the company has now revealed that it will be partaking in an “”agressive rollout”” of brand new stores as well. GAME Australia manager Robert Lukic even goes so far as to say that the retailer will have more than 25 new stores opening up country-wide before the end of the year.
More Inside Lukic also suggested that there would be priority given to states where there are currently not a lot of openings for the company, namely Western Australia, South Australia, and Victoria. In addition, launching within the next two months is an online retail offering as well.
GAME certainly seems to have it’s eyes set on the prize with such a plan for rapid expansion. Time will tell whether or not they can take a dominant foothold in the Australian market, especially considering the juggernaut that is Electronics Boutique. Never underestimate the competition though. EB just may have a fight on their hands.
Better keep a close watch over your shoulder EB. Just in case.
