The latest Zelda title, A Link Between Worlds is pretty great – is has the the story, the length and the mashup of Zelda gameplay the series has needed for a while. It also runs at a silky smooth 60 frames per second.
However don’t just expect future games in the series to have it. Speaking to Game Informer, game director Hiromasa Shikata has spoken about the addition of 60fps gameplay and how you might not see it again.
Game Informer: The game looks beatufitul running at 60 frames per second. Do you see this a new standard for the Zelda series moving forward?
Shikata: It’s really the concept of the game that changes whether you want to keep the volume of information in the game low and running at 60 frames per second or 30 frames per second. We kept it at 60 to make the 3D look smooth, allow the player to clearly see enemy movements, and keep everything moving crisply as with previous games. The doesn’t mean that all future Zelda titles will run 60 frames per second.
So what say you? Did you like A Link Between Worlds at 60fps? Would you like to see other Zelda games running that fast?
